TP vs TN vs FP vs FN
What is TP, TN, FP, FN used for?
They are used to evaluate models, especially classification models. They help determine how well a model is performing by analyzing its predictions compared to actual outcomes. These values form the basis for most metrics
TP (True Positive):
- The model correctly predicts a positive outcome.
- Example: Predicts "yes" for someone who actually has a condition.
FP (False Positive):
- The model incorrectly predicts a positive outcome.
- Example: Predicts "yes" for someone who does not have the condition.
FN (False Negative):
- The model incorrectly predicts a negative outcome.
- Example: Predicts "no" for someone who actually has the condition.
TN (True Negative):
- The model correctly predicts a negative outcome.
- Example: Predicts "no" for someone who does not have the condition.
